Serge Gainsbourge Tres Magnifique

I’m sitting here sipping on coffee, pounding out some code while listening to this and I just had to stop and write about this. I just picked up Serge Gainsbourg’s Les Annees Psychedeliques 1966-1971 from Record City in San Diego and I have to say that I am very pleased with this purchase.

I am happy I was able to support a local store and support the continued existence of vinyl whenever possible. I’ve always been a fan of his work, but this is really speaking to me right now. It’s a double LP compilation of some of Serge’s greatest tunes of the era. A clear standout is Serge’s “Requiem Pour Un Con” and what’ even better is that they have included a Bonus Beats for the same track. Loop it up, remix it, re-edit or do what you will.

  1. I am so jealous you got that. Serge was one of my fave french singer. Such a bastard and he knew it and proudly sang about it. What’s not to love.

  2. No doubt Val. He was an arrogant prick, but his music is so fantastic and a lot of it really stands the test of time.
